Lewis and Clark Canoe Camp Historical Site - Lapwai, Idaho
Idaho is known for its wilderness beauty so if you are looking for a great place to spend some time with nature and still learn some things about how it used to be then you will be interested in seeing this site.
It was here that Lewis and Clark's Expedition finally reached navigable waters after enduring months of hardship crossing the Bitterroot Mountains.
At the site the group camped from September 26 to October 7, 1805, while they built 5 canoes to enable them to continue their journey down the Clearwater, Snake and Columbia Rivers.
There is a replica of a canoe on display.
